Congratulations to my friend Matt who was hired as the new spokesperson for Aflac Insurance. Comedic actor Gilbert Gottfried was the spokesperson until he was fired for making distasteful jokes about Japan.
Mat and I went to college together, yet he is four years younger. I look much better for my age. I had the wonderful opportunity to interview Matt. Check it out below!
Matt, congratulations. It’s great that you landed the gig as the Aflac spokesperson.
Thanks Becky. Congrats on your awesome blog.
Thanks. Moving on- Tell us how you landed the role as Aflac spokesperson?
I was walking in the mall eating a Cinnabun from Cinnabon. It had extra frosting. It tasted delicious. A middle aged man approached me and said I had great bone structure. He asked if I wanted to be a model. I needed a summer job so I agreed. As I was filling out the model paperwork, the man said, “You know what, I think you would make a great spokesperson for Aflac Insurance.” I gave him the rest of my Cinnabun.
Wow. Things really do happen when you least expect it.
They sure do. [Smiles]
What is Aflac?
It is a supplemental insurance company. It offers a bunch of cool policies including physical injury, disease and our newest one, DVR recording insurance.
DVR recording insurance? What is that?
It’s weird how you reversed that sentence. Um, [pause] DVR recording insurance allows clients to sue their cable company if their DVR box doesn’t record a specific show- or if they mess it up somehow. We had one case where a man’s DVR stopped recording 2 seconds before Ryan Seacrest announced the 2010 winner of American Idol. He never found out who won! Can you imagine?
No. I can’t really imagine. That’s crazy. The winner of American Idol that year was Lee DeWyze by the way.
Good to know. [gives me a high five]
You look happy in your picture. It’s good to see you smile.
Uh. Thanks? I don’t really know how to respond to that. [awkwardly laughs]
You don’t have to say anything.
[silence]
Is the duck in your picture real?
No. It’s a stuffed animal’s head on a stick.
Thanks for your time Matt! Keep in touch.
This is amazing!!!!
Howdy! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog.
Is it hard to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about
creating my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Thank you
