An Encounter Of Strangers On The Subway

I ride the NYC subway. A woman asks a man for directions Uptown to 86th and 2nd. He tells her to transfer across the platform at 34th street to the Q train.

They smile and she thanks him. They hold the same handrail.

These two strangers whose ancestors and ancestors and ancestors had to have met, for them to ask subway directions.

It feels magical knowing they will likely never see or talk to each other again. But briefly met for one connection.
