New Friend At Bus Stop

Just waited at the bus stop headed back to Staten Island. Talked to a 70 yr-old-woman, also waiting. We spoke about the late bus and the hot weather. She used to live in Queens but moved to Staten Island b/c she was robbed twice. 10 minutes into the conversation, she reached into her purse and pulled out an ice pack. Which she insisted on holding against my neck and arm for the next 20 minutes. She was concerned that I would overheat. I felt like I would insult her if I rejected the offer. So I smiled and kept saying, “Thank You” and “Thank you so much”. It was a weird experience. “I can’t believe this is happening,” I thought to myself. At the same we had a nice conversation and I did not overheat.
